Foreword:
for those who don’t know the meaning, “infoproduct” is a digital product that teaches something (for free or you either subscription): a video course, an eBook, a portal membership, etc.
That said, here’s what just happened to us.
Before Christmas, we quickly started as a test a homemade initiative that produced leads even on Christmas Day, with a cost per lead of just under $1 (which for our business is a great result).
Starting from that first test, in the last few weeks we have gone further, trying to improve ourselves.
And we came across an infoproduct from an expert who explains a version so evolved that our Christmas method is pathetic in comparison.
We buy his infoproduct, implement the method, and turn the key around.
Initial result?
Cost per lead five times higher, almost $4.83 each!
And that brings us to the moral of this story.
The fact that an expert has a formidable method doesn’t mean that that method will work immediately as a magic wand for you too.
Whatever you buy (from anyone, even from us), maybe you too can get the same results immediately as the one who sold it to you; but maybe not; or at least not immediately.
The right way to use an infoproduct is to study it, understand its principles, implement it, test it, and then start there to get the results in YOUR case.
Only through this path can you make sure that the method works for you too.
For example, to create our own product TheSystem, the video course that teaches how to create a marketing automation system, we tested dozens and dozens of fantastic methods from abroad.
But in the end, there were few things that worked here in Italy, and only after we further adapted them did they become the framework of the system.
The same for 1-2-3 Campaign; it’s an infoproduct (eBook) that contains three ready-to-use templates: a letter template, an email template, and a telephone script template. All three are to be used in sequence to generate appointments in just 20 days.
But as facsimiles, they still need to be customized, tested, and adapted to your product and your market as long as they work for you.
The same goes for Lead Generation Farm™: it’s an infoproduct (video course) that teaches you how to grow a list of potential customers for 12 months, until they mature into leads.
But even here the results don’t come by the grace of God: you have to choose the right list to present your product/service, profile it properly, feed it with well-written content, and contact it by phone in a certain way.
So, summarizing:
- When you find an infoproduct that seems to have what you need, buy it (if you can);
- but then use it in an appropriate way: study it, try to understand the principles behind it, implement it, and test it;
- and finally adapt it step by step to your case, without discouraging you for some difficulties, until you get the final result.
