It happened again.
Every now and then a customer comes up and asks whether he can pay you “on the basis of the leads”.
It hasn’t happened in a while, but recently there have been a couple of cases. Maybe it’s an indicator of discomfort in the market.
Here’s my vision for that, expressed in quite a harsh way because that didn’t come out soft:
It’s your product… that often has nothing different from the others.
It’s your target… that maybe is not even possible to define with absolute precision.
It’s your commercial offer… that maybe is not completely in line with the needs of the market.
And are we supposed to take the risk of working… and getting paid on the basis of results??

As if you were asking Google or Facebook to pay them for their ads on the web or social media only if they get you customers.
Google and Facebook charge for how many times your ad goes under the eyes of the surfers. But then if people like your offer or not, it’s up to the market to decide.
As if you were asking the Corriere della Sera to pay for an ad page only if someone calls you and tells you they saw your ad.
The Corriere will charge the advertising space that it sells you. Then, however, if people like your offer or not, it’s up to the market to decide.
As if you were asking RAI to pay for commercials only if someone buys the products on the shelves of the stores.
RAI charges on the basis of the number of passages and time slots. But then if people like your offer or not, it’s up to the market to decide.
Same for us here at B2B.
