Creating lead generation by using the theory of an economist.
Do you know the Laffer curve?
Arthur Laffer is an American economist who has become famous during Reagan’s years for a reversed U-shaped curve:
The curve expresses the following concept (furthermore, he was inspired by Keynes):
when the tax burden rises over a certain limit, tax revenues decrease because companies are discouraged from investing to produce more.
We do not want to enter into a political debate, neither we want to discuss whether the theory is right or wrong.
However, the curve visually represents the idea in a very clear way: if you run it from left to right like a rollercoaster, as the pressure increases the revenue rises, and then after a certain point it goes down into a dizzying dive and everyone screams clinging to the rollercoaster.
In a nutshell, one could say: too many taxes kill taxes.
But let’s come to our marketing stuff.
I’m witnessing a phenomenon that reminds me of Laffer curve.
The protagonist in this case is the advertising that is carried on on Facebook.
This amusement park is now invaded by a plethora of newly licensed gurus who bombard you every day with advertising that promises phantasmagorical results:
… discover how to generate rivers and rivers of leads in 3 hours
… here’s how to earn 18,327.00 Euros in 3 days with this magical technique
…I’ll teach you how to find tons of free customers in three weeks.
… etc. etc. etc.
They don’t promise to create the bridge over the Strait of Messina in 3 months, just because someone else has already taken the idea.
What does this mean?
It involves a “noise”, a general racket, so potential customers no longer know who to believe. And after being disillusioned over and over again, they end up no longer believing anyone: neither the newly licensed gurus, nor the few real and serious experts.
Paraphrasing Laffer, then:
too much noisy advertising kills advertising.
At the moment, this is of marginal concern to us, because in order to make lead generation we are favouring other less noisy channels. But I’m curious to see what will happen when we return to the amusement park.
Moral:
If you want to promote your product or service, look for a “media” where your potential customers can listen to you without distractions.
The lead generation solution that we have created, for example, allows you to choose 1000 potential customers to whom you would like to sell your product or service, and addresses each of them in a personalized way, 1-ad-1, from the first to the thousandth of the list.
Warning: This mode does not promise miracles, nor results in three days.
But it generates qualified leads.
