Last night I saw Forrest Gump again.
Wonderful.
Among many explicit and implicit messages, I choose this: if you do, you get results.
Forrest Gump isn’t a genius. And that’s why it doesn’t even have the mental superstructures and the excess of critical sense that sometimes paralyze those who are too smart. And to those who call him stupid, he responds with his candid “Stupid is as stupid does”.
Instead of criticizing, he acts.
And he simply does what his mother or beloved Jenny or Lieutenant Taylor or friend Bubba tell him to do…
So, he runs… and survives bullying… and graduates… and becomes a champion… and becomes a hero… and becomes a billionaire.
For example, if Forrest Gump had had the 1-2-3 Lead Generation Campaign in his hands, he wouldn’t have criticized it. He would have simply implemented it by following what was prescribed.
And so, he would be successful.
He wouldn’t have done like that customer who bought it on Friday at 5:00 p.m., and at 8:30 p.m. he wrote:
“Waste of money.”
No, it’s not a waste of money: if anything, in the hands of that client it’s a “waste of product”.
Unless…
… unless this client, on the Friday afternoon before Easter, managed to do in little more than 3 hours what a mere mortal usually does in 3 weeks.
That is:
- He has customized the 3 scripts purchased: the script of a letter, the script of an email, the script of a phone call;
- then, using a private postal service, he delivered the letter to – say – 100 prospect;
- then he sent the email to the same 100 prospects;
- then he called them one by one to make some appointments;
- and in the end, after these three hours decidedly intense, not having set even an appointment, for frustration wrote to the supplier “waste of money”.
But since the above scenario seems to me rather unrealistic, I suspect that this other thing has happened:
While Forrest Gump customized the scripts as he was told to do in the 1-2-3 Campaign, this client didn’t. And to justify himself, he wrote to us “waste of money”.
Then, while Forrest Gump licked the 100 stamps and sent them out, this customer did nothing.
Then, while Forrest Gump was sending the emails, this customer did nothing.
Then, while Forrest Gump was making 100 calls, this customer did nothing.
Then, while Forrest Gump was going to the appointments, this customer did nothing.
And so eventually Forrest Gump will have made lead generation and will sell. This customer won’t.
From tomorrow the price of the 1-2-3 Campaign rises to 67.00 Euro.
For all those who have Forrest Gump’s positive spirit and desire to run, you can still have the product at 37 Euro until midnight today. Everyone else is kindly requested not to buy it: if they do nothing, it’s a thrown-away product, anything but lead generation…
Life is like a box of chocolates: you never know what you’re gonna get.
